Obituary Yvette Antoinette Allen A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot"Ecclesiastes 3:2 Yvette Antoinette Allen was born September 27, 1967 in Lansing, MI to Macy J (Whitelow) Allen and Richard L. Allen, Sr. Yvette, affectionately known as "Vet", committed her life to Christ at a young age knowing that her belief in Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ promises everlasting life. She became a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, pastored by Rev. Arcelious E. Flanagan. Later Ms. Allen became a member of The Doors of Healing Tabernacle Church serving faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Erlene Sudduth. Yvette was dedicated servant to her Pastor, serving on the Pastor's Aid and Women's Fellowship. Yvette attended Lansing Public Schools, graduating from Lansing Everett High School in 1985. She continued her education by earning an Associates Degree in Business Administration and Tourism from Lansing Community College. For many years, Yvette worked diligently as a teller in various banks. During the illness of her mother, Yvette went on an extended leave to take care of her mother. Yvette went back into the workforce as an Audit Clerk for Sparrow Hospital, where she worked through her brief illness until she was called home. Yvette had a strong passion for the American Cancer and Breast Cancer Associations. She participated in many annual events to raise awareness, donating much time and money. You could often find her sporting something pink. Yvette transitioned to be reunited with her mother and other family members on Tuesday, June 23, 2015. She was preceded in her homegoing by her mother, Macy Allen; her grandparents, Ollie and Myrtle Whitelow and John and Emma Allen; several aunts and uncles; and a special friend, Vickie Maffett. Yvette leaves to cherish her loving memory her father, Richard L. Allen, Sr., Mom, Claudia (Jean) Allen; brothers, Jon (Candice) Allen, Richard (Mo), Jr. (Jessica) Allen; special aunts, Ann Graves and Martha Joyce Baker; nieces, Nicholle and Gianna; nephew, Richard L. Allen, III; great-nieces, Thalia and Sadie and a host of cousins, others relatives, and friends. Scripture: 2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought the good fight I have finished my course I have kept the faith Hence forth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord the Righteous Judge shall give me at that day and not to me only but unto all them also that love His appearing. RESTING IN PEACE Ms. Allen will lie in repose Thursday, July 2, 5-8pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 West St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 12pm at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 5200 Pleasant Grove Road, Lansing, MI 48911. The family will receive visitors one hour before services begin.
