Willie Lee Bibbs was born May 31, 1950 in Jackson, Mississippi to the union of the late Fred Bibbs and Margaret Mangum.

Willie attended the Jackson, Mississippi Public Schools. He soon after moved to Lansing, Michigan in the early 70's where he worked at Oldsmobile. In 1979, Willie married Thelma Risper.

Willie was admired by many for his work as a skilled handyman. When he did a job, he did it with professionalism, clarity, style and with attention to detail. He was known as "Mr. Bibbs", by so many. There was not a job that he could not do, from the top to the roof to the basement floor.

Mr. Bibbs had a large clientele which was mostly created by word of mouth. If your family or friends needed work to be done, you would refer them to Mr. Bibbs. He worked for people in and out of the State of Michigan. That's how talented and skilled he was. He will be truly missed. After learning of his passing, many are saying, "Who will we call upon, when we have work to be done?"

So in the days to come, when we need a job done right, we will say, "We looked all over and couldn't find nobody. Searched high, low and all around and still couldn't find nobody. Nobody as skilled; Nobody as kind; Nobody as patient; Nobody as inexpensive; He might not have come when you wanted him, but he always got there to meet your need. For there is Nobody, Nobody that can do a job like Mr. Willie Lee Bibbs.

Willie departed this life on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at Sparrow Hospital. He was preceded in death by; his son, Willie Lee Greenlee; parents, Fred Bibbs and Margaret Mangum; brothers, Fred Jr. Bibbs and Johnny Bibbs; sisters, MaryAnn Bibbs and Burnell Smith.

Willie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Thelma Risper Bibbs; sons, Casey Greenlee and Travis (Tracy) Greenlee; daughters, Alicia Gilliam and Arquetta Bibbs; brothers, Eliza Lee (Tina) Bibbs, Charles Lee (Debra) Bibbs and James Jr. (Miranda) Bibbs; sisters, Mary (David) Atkins, Betty Lee Bibbs and Dora Lee Bibbs.


Mr. Willie Lee Bibbs will lie in repose Friday, February 12th, 3 -6pm at Riley Funeral Home, Lansing, Michigan 48933.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13th, 11am at Galilee Baptist Church, 2511 Reo Road, Lansing, Michigan 48911.  Family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the funeral service.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Riley Funeral Home towards the services for Mr. Bibbs.
