Age 101, went to live throughout eternity with the Lord on Tuesday, March 19, 2013. He was born on September 27, 1911 in Woodson, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, a loving wife, Mattie, of sixty years, nieces, nephews and cousins. He leaves to cherish his memory: children, Gwen Hall, Barbara Robertson; grandchildren, Temka, Shmyra, LaTanya, Evrin McKinley,III; four great- grandchildren, nieces, Lois (Morgan)Johnson, Geraldine(O. J.) Richardson, Bennie Lee (Bert) Black, Julia Anderson; great nephews, nieces and cousins, a loving church family and a host of friends. Mr. Newton retired from Atlas Drop Forge, he also owned and operated a trash hauling company. His favorite and special love was studying the bible and sharing his love for God. He was an ordained deacon in the Original Church of God where he served dutifully until his health would no longer allow him to do so. Friends may visit Mr. Newton Monday, March 25, 3 to 6 pm at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 26, at 12:00 pm at Ellis Tabernacle, 1916 Olds Ave., Lansing, MI with the family receiving friends 30 minutes prior to service.
