Virginia "Peaches" McClure was born October 20, 1938 in Lansing, Michigan. She attended Lincoln Center, West Junior High, and graduated from J. W. Sexton High School. She worked as a realtor and as an administrator for Friendship Manor Apartments. She retired in 1998, after 15 years of service. Peaches gave her life to Christ at an early age. She served on the Trustee Board and on the Pastor Board at New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She was a devoted member, until she became ill. Peaches played a role in bringing the community together. She offered counseling, when needed, at the Drop-In Center. She also started a daycare so she could help family and friends. Anyone who knew Peaches, knew she had an open heart and helping hands. She was preceded in death by: her son, Owen Rogers; daughter, Randa Rogers; parents, Robert Young and Lena Mae Lyles, brother, Robert Young; and sister, Mary Lou Pittman. Mrs. McClure passed away November 24, 2014, at the age of 76. She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 50 years, James McClure; son, Kevin (Lynda) Rogers; two daughters, Verlinda and Jacqueline Rogers; one step-daughter, Jaymee Clark; eight grandchildren, Tesha (Marquis) Davis,Victoria Wells, Eric (Kita) Rogers, Curtis Parker, Jr., Aleem Rogers, Damon Chenault, Jr., Marcus Rogers, and Jakyra Pittman; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Lorretta (Penny) Brewer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved and cherish. Mrs. McClure will lie in repose Friday, November 28, 3-8pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 West St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, 11am at the New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 3800 West Miller Road, Lansing, MI 48911. The family will receive visitors 30 minutes before services begin.
