Born September 25, 1955, in Battle Creek; raised in East Lansing, and spent her legal career at the Michigan Court of Appeals. She enjoyed many years of retirement with her husband at their home on Sugar Island, watching freighters on the St. Mary's River. She is survived by her husband, Glen Schmiege; father, Rodney Petersen; brother, Christopher Petersen; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no services at this time for Mrs. Petersen.
