Obituary

Timothy DeMyers was born on January 12, 1945 in Wesson, Mississippi to Lawrence DeMyers Jr. and Betty Clara (Williams) DeMyers. Timothy accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, Wesson, MS. He was raised in Wesson, MS , and graduated from Eva Harris High School in 1965. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966-1968. On May 5, 1965, Timothy married Ozie (Richardson) DeMyers, and moved to Lansing, MI in 1968. He later joined Union Missionary Baptist Church, Lansing, MI under the leadership of Reverend C.J. Patterson. Timothy continued his education at Lansing Community College and became an electrician. Timothy also strived to excel to perfection in all his hobbies and interest as golf, bowling, jogging, chess, tennis, and table tennis but he was rumored to cheat in Bid-Wiz. He had a great passion for electronics and computers, and he created the program for the numbering system for the contribution envelopes for his church. He also enjoyed long road trips, and barbequing for family outings. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Mark DeMyers and Reverend Luther DeMyers; three sisters: Bonnie Williams, Mildred (Williams) Clay, and Flora (DeMyers) Wash; one nephew: Luke DeMyers Jr. On 10/23/12, the Lord sent his angel to bring him home after his courageous battle with cancer. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife; two sons: Timothy Jr. and Taiyon DeMyers; four daughters: Felicia and Kendra DeMyers, and Tamela Ruffin, and Hajja Shahid-Hicks; seven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may visit Mr. DeMyers, Sr. Sunday, Oct 28, 12- 9 pm at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 29, 11 am at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
