Obituary

Thomas Readus of Lansing MI departed this life on Sunday Morning, August 9th, 2020.

Born to the late Felix and Alcinda Tatum Readus on July 27, 1940 in Huntsville, Alabama; both proceeded him in death. Through this union were 14 children, nine children Preceded him in death: Arthur Readus, Erskin Readus, Cleatus Readus, Ambros Readus, Harrison Readus, B.T. Readus, Felix Readus, Paige Readus, W.C. Readus.

Thomas professed a life with Christ at an early age. He was a Deacon at Greater Philadelphia Tabernacle Church of God and Chirst in Highland Park, Michigan for decade's, serving in ministry with his Pastor, the late Administrative Assistant Samuel L. Jones. His Love for Chirst came through in all of his works.

Thomas Married Delores (Dee) Readus, August 29, 1990, his Darling Dee, as he called her. To this union six daughter's were united.

Thomas worked at Fisher Body for 38.5 years, retiring in 2005. He had a job within his job, his candy store; he would leave from home hours before he had to be there to make sure he set up his store. After retiring Thomas was employed with Sam's Club for seven years finally retiring in 2012. He Loved family, his Legacy will impact our hearts forever. He would always remind his girl's of the love we brought to his life with the grandchildren. Thomas (Dad) was an unconditional man, his Love was endless, he tried to be at every birth and every birthday dinner we shared as a family. Thomas' smile would light up any room and that smile would brighten up any hardship. He was a faithful and gentle giant to us all, his jokes, love and laughter will be in our hearts forever.

He leaves to cherish his Darling (Dee) Delores Readus; his siblings, Marie (Walter) Maples of Chattanooga, TN, Elizabeth Finney of Detroit, MI, Dr. Jesse Readus of Pulaski, TN, Samuel (Vera) Readus of Littlerock, AR; daughters, Melissa Readus of Lansing, MI, Beverly Bates of Lansing, MI, Loretta (Albert) Henderson of Birmingham, AL, Patricia (Michael) Donaldson of Lansing, MI, Evangelist Pamela (Deacon John) Stewart of Lansing, MI, 1st Lady Jeanette (Superintendent Victor ) Jones of Lansing, MI; six grandsons; five granddaughters; 15 great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Martha (Willie) Byrd; 2 god children; a host of niece's and nephews cousins and many other relatives.
