Sylvester John Block II, "Sly", 61 of Lansing, MI passed away peacefully Sunday, May 2, 2021. He is survived by: daughter, Heather Compeau of Traverse City; grandson, Kayden Robertson; siblings, Sandy (Russ) Fink, David (Cindy) Block, Debbie (Brian) McCarthy. Syl was an incredibly loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many.

Born to Sylvester and Patricia Block on November 9, , 1959, Syl was the third of four children. He was a graduate from East Lansing High School where he was involved in theater and swimming. Syl was gifted with a sense of design. Whether in his wardrobe, home or work, his ability to put things together was inspired.

Over the years, Syl worked in hotel management and a variety of different sales positions. Most recently, he had been at La-Z-Boy where he was a top sales person. Syl loved large bodies of water; especially Lake Michigan and the Gulf Coast. Boating, waterskiing, swimming, biking and golfing brought him much happiness over the years.

Sly also enjoyed music from a variety of genres; anything he could dance to was on the table!

If you knew Syl, you loved him. He was playful, mischievous, outgoing, caring, connecting and the life of the party. He enjoyed connecting with others the most. Whether in person, over the phone, or on Facebook messenger, Syl was always staying in touch.

"There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone, the light remains."
