Stephanie Ann Johnson, age 66, passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019. She was born on January 16, 1953 in Lansing, Michigan to Leo and Winifred Johnson.  She was the only girl born into her family of five children, which contributed to her resilient and tough exterior.  Stephanie grew up on the westside of Lansing, on Olds Avenue, in a tight knit community.  Her family played an integral role in that community.  She attended Main Street Elementary, West Junior, and J.W. Sexton High School.  People always gravitated towards Stephanie because she was friendly and always had a smile on her face.

A loving mother and grandma, Stephanie was a remarkable cook and loved preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays.  She loved to watch the news every day, around the clock.  She said that growing up, her parents always had them watch the news and it was something that just stuck with her.  Her favorite shows were Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos, Criminal Minds, Family Feud, and her all-time favorite, The Young and the Restless.

During Stephanie's adult life, she could always see the good in people and had an Open-Door policy.  She always made sure there was enough for everyone to go around.  Stephanie was very straight-forward and people always knew where they stood with her.  In her family she was the "go to" person if you needed advice.  When people came to her during difficult times, she never made them feel ashamed, but instead just reassured them things would be okay.  Her grandchildren described her as a "goofball" and a good time.

Stephanie was preceded in death by: her parents, Winifred Johnson (Nelson) and Leo Johnson; brothers, Terry Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson, Gary Johnson; and grandson, Jaire Johnson-Reeves.

She is survived by: her brother, Stephen Johnson; her children, Tamika and Keira Johnson; grandsons, Jalen (Tori), Kyler Hall and Keywon McCan, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Sarai, Lyriq, Zuri, and Ezaiah Hall; nephew, Monte Johnson; nieces Terri (Terrance) Render and Autumn Johnson; her companion, Rick; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A memorial service for Ms. Stephanie Johnson will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10 am at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St. Lansing, MI 48933.
