Obituary

Stephanie Lynn Coleman, Attorney at Law, passed peacefully from this life on Thursday August 5, 2021 in Lansing Michigan. Stephanie was born on April 16, 1957 to Mrs. Geraldine and Dr. Don Coleman in Flint Michigan. Admitted to the State Bar of Michigan in 1985, she practiced law in Lansing, primarily for the UAW-Legal Plan Services.

A lifelong resident of Lansing, Stephanie, known to her family and friends as 'Cookie' attended and graduated from JW. Sexton High School in 1974 going on to Michigan State University where she became a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1978. After graduation she accepted a position with the Michigan Department of Public Health where she worked for seven years. During this time Stephanie also attended Thomas J. Cooley Law School in Lansing where she earned her JD. Degree in 1985. She was admitted to practice law in Michigan and became a member of the State Bar of Michigan. She worked for the UAW-GM Legal Services as a staff attorney for the UAW-Legal Services Plan from 1985 -2014, primarily in the areas of family law, estate planning bankruptcy and consumer law.

Cookie is best remembered by her friends as a fun loving, adventurous prankster. She loved scrapbooking with her friends and was a world traveler. She loved being the center of any joke and it usually turned around to where it was a joke on you. She fought her health battles bravely and with dignity. Obsessed with Harry Potter, Cookie was looking forward to her trip to the 'Wizarding World of Harry Potter" at Universal Studios with her dear friends, Peg MacDonald and Cassandra Stewart. Her infectious smile would lighten your day and her snarky comments added levity to every situation.

From Her Mother:
My Dearest Darling,

My heart is heavy with sorrow as I write this, but instead of sorrow I will concentrate on all the wonderful memories we have shared, the love I have for you and your daddy and the pride we have felt and will forever feel for my "Sweet Baby". I may have heard my last "Momma" but will never forget your voice, your smile, your hugs and kisses. I was always your primary focus and you always treated me with the greatest of love, compassion and respect. You fought a long battle Cookie. Kiss your daddy for me and rest in peace.

Love, Momma.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her beloved father, Dr. Don Coleman. Her Mother, Mrs. Geraldine Coleman and a host of family and friends remain to cherish her memory.
