Obituary

2 Timothy 4:7-8 (KJV)  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Shirley Lee (Barnett) Williams came into the world on Friday, May 3, 1946, in New Madrid, Missouri.  Shirley lived in Sikeston, Missouri, before marrying Lawrence Williams on May 3, 1962, and moving to Lansing, Michigan in 1965.

Shirley was born to the union of the late Oddie Bell (Byers) Barnett (1983 - Cleveland, Arkansas) and Eddie Garfield Barnett (1989 - Lansing, Michigan) and was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence Williams (2011 – Lansing, Michigan) for 49 years.  She was also preceded in death by: her second born son, Lawrence Williams Jr. (1964, Sikeston, Missouri); brothers, Eddie Garfield Barnett Jr. (1968 – Lansing, Michigan), L. D. Williams (2006 – Fulton, Missouri), McKinley (Jack) Kent (2008- Sikeston, Missouri); brother-in-law, Deacon Steven D. Roper, Sr. (2011 – Benton Harbor, Michigan); sisters, Minister May Bell Drane (2012 – Lansing, Michigan), Hail Jean Clay (2020 – Lansing, Michigan); and sister-in-law, Ruby Barnett (2020, Lansing, Michigan).

Shirley leaves to celebrate her life her loving family: sisters, Canera Canady (Herman), Hattieville, Arkansas, Frances (Horace) Walton,  Oddie Bell (Tryce) Coleman, all of Lansing, Michigan, Charlotte Roper, Benton Harbor, Michigan, Regina (Tony) Gibbs, Sikeston, Missouri; brother, Oscar Lee (Tracy Dobson) Kent, Montague, Michigan; Shirleys' loving children, Minister Dennis (Patricia) Barnett, John (LaToya) Williams, Kelvin Williams, Minister Angel Yauch, Minister Kelli (Barry)Wilson, all of Lansing, Michigan, Krista Abdallah, DeWitt, Michigan; twenty-four grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; and special sister in Christ, Mother Marvella Jones of Lansing, Michigan.

Shirley was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the Holy Ghost as evidenced by speaking in tongues, under the ministry of the late Suffragan Bishop William H. Warren, Christ Temple Church, Lansing, Michigan. There was nothing asked of Shirley that she didn't attempt for the Lord. It was her mission in life to tell everyone she encountered about her Lord and Savior, JESUS.

In addition to working for Christ, Shirley worked in lots of places where she furthered her mission to tell everyone of the goodness of Jesus. Some of these places included Woodcreek Elementary School, Burger King, McDonald's, and Meijer on West Saginaw.

If you knew Shirley Williams then you knew she had one answer to everything "JESUS". Shirley let her light shine before men so they would see her good works and glorify her father in heaven.

There will be no services for Ms. Williams at this time.
