Obituary

Shirley Ann Schwarz, 94, of Lansing, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025, with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Ellsworth, Michigan July 13, 1930, to Hazel and Harry Gregory. In her later school years, she moved to Traverse City where she graduated from Traverse City High School. She went on to Ferris State University graduating with a degree in Pharmacy. Shirley worked in retail pharmacies in Traverse City before moving a few times, finally settling in the Lansing area. She continued working in retail drug stores (RL Drugs and Foster's) until1968, when she began working at the Olin Health Center Pharmacy on the MSU campus until she retired.

Shirley had the uncanny ability to make anyone she met feel like they were the most special person ever. Shirley's kindness, warmth and love will be missed by all that knew her. Her family and friends benefitted greatly from her giving, selfless personality, but she also gave of herself to anyone with whom she came in contact. Shirley was a dedicated member of St Michael's Episcopal Church and an avid MSU fan.

Shirley is survived by: her sister, Betty Ascham (Roscommon, MI); brother, William Gregory (Suttons Bay, MI); daughters, Linda Clegg (Lansing, MI), Laurie Loving, (Albuquerque, NM); son, Charles (Sara) Schwarz (Traverse City, MI); many special nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, as well as the loving Estes family (SE Michigan).

She was preceded in death by: her parents; stepfather, Wallace Willman; son, John Schwarz; grandson, Blayke Manauel Luna-Schwarz; and her longtime companion, Robert Estes.
