Shirley Jean
Diamond-Holton
Mar 22, 1956 — May 24, 2026
Shirley Jean Diamond Holton, a cherished resident of Lansing, Michigan, peacefully passed away on May 24, 2026, at the age of 70. She left this world surrounded by the abundant love of her family. Shirley’s legacy is defined by her unwavering kindness, her deep dedication to her family, and a vibrant, warm spirit that brought light to everyone who knew her. Born on March 23, 1956, in Parkin, Arkansas, Shirley was the youngest daughter of Eddie Diamond, Sr. and Lue Ella Wilson. She went on to build a beautiful life in the Lansing community centered around love, purpose, and faith.
Shirley dedicated many years to her professional and community life in the Lansing area. After retiring from the State of Michigan, she continued her impactful work with the Lansing School District, Community Mental Health, and Catholic Charities of Lansing. Driven by a lifelong passion for learning, she worked full-time while returning to school, successfully earning an Associate’s Degree from Lansing Community College and later a Bachelor’s Degree from Siena Heights University. Known for her strong work ethic, patience, and compassion, Shirley was deeply respected by her peers and left an indelible mark on everyone she worked alongside.
Shirley’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a profoundly loving mother to her son, Antwan, providing a Christ-centered household filled with unconditional love, guidance, and support. Her role as a grandmother to Israel brought an immense, bright joy to her later years, and she cherished every single moment spent with him. Before she fell ill, she also loved traveling to visit family across the country and attending family reunions. Beyond her family, Shirley possessed a rare zest for life and an infectious laugh. She loved to travel, attend church services regularly, and open her arms to others. She had a generous heart and a unique ability to make anyone feel entirely welcome and at home in her presence.
Shirley’s memory will be eternally kept alive by her loving family, including: her devoted son, Antwan Holton, and his wife, Page of Schertz, TX; her cherished grandson, Israel Holton of Schertz, TX; and her dear sisters, Betty Moss, Cathlean Davis, and Lillie Cole, all of Lansing, MI. She is also survived by: her sisters-in-law, Tayann Williams of Lansing, MI and Essie Diamond of Grand Rapids, MI, alongside a large, loving circle of extended family, nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends throughout Lansing and beyond.
She was peacefully reunited in heaven with: her beloved husband, Eugene Holton, Sr.; her son and daughter, Eugene Holton, Jr. and VonnaShay Holton; her parents, Eddie Diamond, Sr. and Lue Ella Diamond (Christian); and her siblings, AD Jorden, Eddie Diamond, Jr., Lula Bailey, Susan Diamond, and Sylvester Diamond.
