Sheryl Renee Davis was born in Lansing, MI on September 6, 1958 to the late Mildred (Loveless) Davis and James H Davis, Jr. Sheryl accepted Jesus Christ into heart at an early age and was baptized at Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was a current member of New Life Community C.O.G.I.C. where she had just recently voiced her desire to join the Praise Team. She attended the Lansing Public Schools graduating in 1977 with training in Cosmetology. She received Certification in Medical Billing in Nashville, Tenn. She experienced employment with both Dean Transportation and the former Motor Wheel Corporation in Lansing, MI Sheryl's interests included fishing; rummage sales as well as her fondness for driving the highways without hesitation to and from Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. She loved each and every one of her family members and displayed much enthusiasm for their seemingly endless family gatherings "get-togethers". Sheryl was devoted whole-heartedly to her only child/son, Redera and his children. Sheryl was not timid in reaching out to others. She truly enjoyed helping others, as she was one of the kindest, thoughtful, and caring person that you would ever want to meet and come to know. Sheryl was preceded in death by her Mother, Mrs. Mildred Johnson. Sheryl departed this earthly life on December 5, 2014 at the age of 56. Sheryl leaves to cherish her loving memory: her son, Redera Davis, Sr.;14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; father, James H. Davis, Jr.; 2 sisters, Vonda Gilliam and Andrea (Thomas) Lee; 2 brothers, James Edward Davis and Michael D.Johnson; aunt, Mary Ruth Plummer; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Ms. Davis will lie in repose Thursday, December 11, 3-6pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 West St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 12pm, at Tabernacle of David Church, 2645 West Holmes Road, Lansing, MI 48911. The family will receive visitors 30 minutes before services begin.
