Rufus Carnell Mays, III was born December 14, 1976 to Rufus Carnell Mays, II and Virginia Mays. He passed on February 6, 2021 at the age of 44.

Rufus attended Eastern High School where he spent most of his childhood and life growing up on the northside of Lansing. Rufus loved music, friends, and fashion. Rufus was also very close to his beloved father and they were inseparable, so much so, that he would call his dad "Kid." Rufus was very thoughtful and very considerate of anyone he may have crossed paths with. His heart was always filled with unbelievable love and compassion. He wanted to see the good in everyone and loved making jokes and making people smile.

Rufus is proceeded in death by: his father, Rufus Carnell Mays, II; grandparents, Rufus Carnell Mays Sr., Robert and Flora Hollingsworth, Lewis Locke and Viola Matura of Belize; step-mother, Christine Mays; and brother, Michael Flowers of Lansing, Michigan.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: brothers, Henry (Evelyn) Flowers of Flint, Michigan, Harvey Flowers of Lansing, Michigan, Lyndon Flowers of Belize; sisters, Martha (Julian) Woods and Cynthia Artis of Lansing, Michigan; aunts, Robin Hollingsworth, Pamela (Charles) Neal of Lansing, Michigan, Lola, Marion, Louisa of Belize; uncles, Alvin, Nervin, Robert of Belize; and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.
