Ms. Ruby Mae Tyes passed away at Sparrow Hospice House on March 12, 2021 at the age of 75.

Ruby was born March 26, 1945 in Mississippi to her parents Hattie and Wesley Porter. She was the fourth out of five children. She worked as a nanny and caretaker for the majority of her life. She met Milton T. Fields and together they had a daughter, Lecia Ann Brown in 1963.

Ruby was a sweet and gentle God-fearing woman who always had a strong passion for helping others. Ruby was also a caring and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by family, friends and the Westside neighborhood.

Ruby is survived by: her grandchildren, Robert Brandon Brown, Deirdra Simone Brown, and Crystal Monique Brown; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Elesé Brown, Laila Simone Washington, Robert Brandon Brown Jr., Tyler Christian Jenkins and Eva Brown.

She preceded in death by: her parents; siblings, Katie Porter, Jesse Porter, Rosie Richardson and Jimmie Porter; as well as her two children, Roger Porter who passed as an infant and Lecia Brown who passed in 2014.
