Ruby Jane Artis-Brown was born on January 22, 1933 in Gregory, Arkansas to (Deacon) James "Henry"and Mosella Artis, Sr. Ruby graduated from Gregory High School. After graduation, Ruby moved to St. Louis, Missouri. She later relocated to Jackson, Michigan then finally settled in Lansing, MI.
Ruby was a homemaker for many years, raising her children and grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She loved to travel and enjoyed plenty of family outings and get togethers. She walked with the Lord all of her life and she loved King Jesus. She was faithful in her service to the Lord. She was a member of Christ Temple for many years and was known as Mother Brown.
Ruby was called home to be with the Lord, on the morning of September 27 th 2019. Ruby was preceded in death by: sons, Henry and Anthony Brown; great-grand-daughter, Corlise Brown; her parents, James and Mosella Artis, Sr.; and her siblings, James Artis, Jr., Jattie Weathers and Dorothy Harris.
Ruby is survived by: seven children: Gladys Brown, Harry Brown, Michael Brown, Ricky (Lena) Brown and Janet Jones all of Lansing, James (Bernice) Brown of Iron Mountain, MI, and Patricia (Brian) Russell of Inkster, MI; 18 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 3 great great grand children; five siblings, John (Cheryl)Artis, Harold (Barbara) Artis and Charles Artis all of Lansing, MI, Fred Artis of Battle Creek, MI, Willie Chatman of Charlotte, NC; a special aunt, Searcy Sipes of St. Louis, MO; a special niece, Ellen White of Lansing, MI; and a host of other nieces, nephews, church family members and friends.
