Rosetta was born October 30 , 1928 in Pontiac, MI, to parents Willie J. and Josephine Quince. She eventually ended up attending Michigan State University. She overcame the terrible commute and earned her degree. She also joined the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority while in college. Rosetta maintained friendships with many of her sorority sisters throughout the remainder of her life.

After graduating from college, Rosetta was hired by the Lansing School District. She was the second black teacher ever hired by that school district. She taught 4th and 5th grade at Pleasant Grove and Pleasant View schools during her 31-year career.

Rosetta married Charles West in 1959. They bought a house and a lot of surrounding land in 1962. Her only child, Alan, was born in 1964. She was married for 46 years until her husband Charles passed away in 2005.

Rosetta was known to be a devoted teacher. She spent hours many nights grading schoolwork to ensure her students performed well. She was also known for being an excellent cook and homemaker. Her main interests were her church and love of playing the piano.

Rosetta passed away on April 11, 2023. She is survived by: her son, Alan; her brothers, Harvey Quince and Larry Quince; her sister, Lorraine Nealy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosetta is preceded in death by: her brothers, W.J. Quince, E.K Quince, Lee Kelly Quince, Carlton Quince, Stanford Quince and John Quince. Also, her sisters, Josie Mae Quince and Marilynn Warren.
