Obituary

Ronald Heinz Roller passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 2, 2017; Battlecreek, MI (formerly of Rockport) . Ronnie was the son of Heinz and June (Fears) Roller of Rockport.

Ronnie enjoyed sports and was Captain of the hockey, soccer, and baseball teams at Rockport High, where he graduated in 1979. He was also a proud player on the Rockport Townies baseball team during their championship years.

After attending Fitchburg State College, he became a United States Marine, where he made Sergeant in the 1st Marine Expeditionary Brigade FMF, where he was a heavy vehicle operator. His decorations include Good Conduct Medal, Letter of Commendation, Meritorious Mast, Rifle Expert Marksmanship Badge, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Achievement Medal, and Meritorious Unit Citation. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Oahu, Hawaii.

Ronnie's vocation was construction of residential houses. He combined his professionalism, skills and Roller handiwork building homes for many satisfied customers. Ronnie was a dedicated Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox fan, always remaining true to his 'home' teams.

An avid hunter, his favorite adventure was when Heinz, Steve, and Jamie joined him in Michigan for their "yearly hunt." Ronnie, a daring individual, delighted in jumping out of planes. He also enjoyed ice skating on Oregon Pond in Rockport, riding motorcycles, fly fishing and canoeing on the Saco River, camping, and telling funny stories around a camp fire. Ronnie's presence, big heart, huge smile, and mischievous giggles will be missed by all who knew him.

In Heaven, he joins his grandparents, Margaret Fears and Frida and Kurt Roller; his aunt, Judith Scholler; his aunt, Jean, and uncle, Bob Rodgers, and his cousin, Kirk Keating. He leaves behind those who loved him, had the pleasure of his company, and will miss him always including his daughter, Jordan Roller of Kentucky; his parents, Heinz and June (Fears) Roller of Rockport; his brother, Stephen Roller and his wife, Barbara, and their children, Kurt and Colt of Rockport; his brother, Jamie Roller, and his children, Hadden, Miranda, and Matthew of Gloucester; his close friend from Michigan, Randy Hartlerode and his family; and many close relatives and friends.
