Mr. Romualdo Castanon-Ramirez, 62, of Lansing, MI, passed away on September 16, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family.
Romualdo was born in Matamoros, Mexico to Narciso Castanon and Catalina Ramirez on February 7, 1961. He later came to Michigan around 1977 where he worked as a migrant worker and transitioned to construction where he worked for the rest of his life. He later married his wife, Melinda Castanon, mother to his 4 kids.
He was a dedicated man when it came to family and sports. One of his favorite sports was soccer where he played for Club Austurias for Matamoros then continued playing for them here in Michigan. He also represented his favorite soccer teams in America and Mexico with his jerseys and hats anytime a game was on. His passion continued with football where he represented Michigan State University and the Detroit Lions.
Romualdo's love was felt by all he came across. His smile, laugh, his heart of gold and his giving hands where just some of his contagious traits. There was no one truly who could compare. He loved music, dancing, cooking, being around family and collecting things. He was a great father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Mr. Castanon-Ramirez is preceded in death by: his parents, Narciso Castanon and Catalina Ramirez; his wife, Melinda Castanon; brother, Miguel Castanon; and nephew, Antonio Bailey.
He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Angie (Juan) Castanon, Elizabeth (Aaron) Velasquez; sons, Adrian (Wendy) Castanon, Jose (Candise) Castanon; grandkids, Javier, Esperanza, Fernando, Jicelia, Nyeli, Aaron Jr., Soriyah, Roman, Amelia; great grandkids, Madalina, Maribelle, and Martell;.spouse, Amy Castanon; brothers, Pedro Castanon, Epifanio (Magarita) Castanon, Narsico (Lisa) Castanon, Francisco (Nora) Castanon, Martin (Mercedes) Castanon; sisters, Margarita Castanon, Juana (Beto) Castanon, Patricia (Rolando) Castanon; and many many, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
