Obituary

Roland Leroy Adams was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 10, 1962, to Doris and Nolen Adams. He was affectionately called "Dirty Red" as a child because of his blondish red hair and quick wit. Roland Adams attended Detroit Public Schools and went on to receive training and certification as a butcher. He was proud of this accomplishment and enthusiastically put his skills to work while gainfully employed as a butcher at the Eastern Market in Detroit. Roland Adams accepted the Lord at a young age. He met the love of his life, Pamela Bates, and the couple was blessed with the birth of two sons, Roland Jason Samuel and Justin Samuel. Roland loved The Lord and gave him the glory for his strength and courage while enduring debilitating illnesses. Roland Adams was preceded in death by his son, Roland Jason Samuel; his parents, Doris and Nolen Adams; his sister, Anne King; and his brothers, Sherman Adams and Nolen Adams, Jr. Roland Adams passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at William Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Point, Michigan. His life on earth ended, but a glorious and eternal life began for him with our Lord and Savior in paradise. He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved son, Justin Samuel and his fiance', Tiffany Foster, both of Battle Creek, Michigan; one granddaughter, Jalissa Janey Samuel of Battle Creek; his loving siblings, Debra L. (Hershel) Gilbert of Las Vegas, Nevada, Daren D. Adams of Detroit, Karen R. (Roger) Adams-Powell of Lansing, and Kenneth L. Adams of Los Angeles, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, all of whom will miss him. Mr. Adams will lie in repose Tuesday, April 14, 3-6pm at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15,1pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 West St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933. Memories and condolences can be shared at rileyfuneralhome.com.
