Roger Ray
Lownsbery
May 9, 1947 – August 2, 2020
Roger Ray Lownsbery, age 73, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on August 2, 2020. (NOT from COVID) He was born May 9, 1947 in Lansing to Allen and Donna J. Lownsbery.
Roger was a jack of all trades; according to his granddaughter, Marianna, "Ask Papa, he can fix anything!" He proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1972. While in the Army, he lived in Japan with his first wife, Nancy Nichols, for two years, where their first son, Todd, was born. On October 15, 1981 he married Donna S. (Schultz) Lownsbery and had two children, Brian and Candice. This union also brought him two additional children, Rachelle and Stanley III Purvis
He was preceded in death by: his parents; sisters, Sharon Perrine and Patricia Hedin; and his brother, Mark Lownsbery.
Roger loved and cherished his surviving family: Todd (Linda) Lownsbery, Rachelle Hoffmeyer, Stanley Purvis III, Brian (Sharon) Lownsbery, and Candice (Alex Martinex) Lownsbery. His 10 grandchildren who brought him so much joy, Brittany and Austin Lownsbery, Trevor and Andrew (AJ) Hoffmeyer, Stanley Purvis IV, Kiersten and Antonio (AJ) Trevino, Emma and Ty Lownsbery, and Marianna Martinez. His 10 great-grandchildren, Brady and Liam Purvis, Alysiahna, Adriana, Alaya, Aviahna, Azariyon Trevino, Amaniyo Barrera, Azaveon Swinton and Aurora Hoffmeyer. His brother, John (Julie) Lownsbery and a multitude of nieces, nephews, friends, along with his loving canine, Scarlett.
We want to thank Riley Funeral Home for making this an easy transition, Community Faith Church for their love and support, and Sparrow Hospital for their life saving efforts.
We also wish to express our sincere thanks and gratitude for your acts of kindness, prayers, calls, messages, and your presence here today. May God bless each of you.
