Roberta Peterson
was born on September 15, 1949 to the Union of Jack and Annie Bell Lewis in Gallion, Alabama. Roberta was one of thirteen children who received her formal education through the Marengo County Educational System in Linden Alabama.
In 1983, Roberta was blessed, and joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Tommie L. Peterson. This union was blessed with a loving family, Pamela Deshawn Lewis, Benita Lewis, Theresa Lewis, Antonio Lewis, and Jimmy Jerome Peterson.
Roberta was a dedicated employee who worked at General Motors, and retired after thirty years of service in 2005. Roberta enjoyed, and attended service regularly at Greater Love Apostolic Church in Lansing, Michigan.
Those who knew Roberta describe her as being: loving, kind, quiet spoken, caring, and one who would literally give you the shirt off her back without question.
Roberta Lewis Peterson was preceded in death by: her parents, Jack and Annie Bell Lewis; six brothers, Nathaniel, Morris, James, Alfonso, John, and Milton.
Our dearly beloved Roberta departed this life on Sunday, March 27, 2016. She will be deeply missed. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Tommie L.; her children, Pamela, Benita, Theresa, Antonio, Jimmy; her loving grandson, Jeremiah; six siblings, Jack Lewis (Ethel) of Detroit, MI, Lillian Taylor of Lansing, MI, Annie Houston (Frank) of Lansing, MI, Lucy Williams of Lansing, MI, Earnest Lewis (Carla) of Lansing MI, Tina Lewis of Lansing MI; one aunt, Mary Smith of Gallion, Alabama; several sisters and brothers-in- Law, Shirley Peterson, Terry Peterson, Vanessa Peterson, Arilen Peterson, Austin Peterson, Freddie Peterson of Detroit, MI, Willie Earl Peterson of Lansing, MI; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Roberta Peterson will lie in repose Friday, April 1st, 1-7pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St, Lansing, MI. Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 2nd, 11am at Greater Love Apostolic Temple, 505 Seymour Ave, Lansing, MI 48933. Memories and condolences may be shared at www.rileyfuneralhome.com .
