Robert Michael
Pugh
February 2, 1942 – December 13, 2020
Robert (Bob) Michael Pugh, 78, of Lansing Township, Michigan passed away peacefully due to Covid-19 on Sunday, December 13, 2020.
Bob was born in his grandparent's home in West Warwick, Rhode Island on February 2, 1942. He spent most of his childhood and teenage years in Miami, Florida where he became a Christian. His faith in Jesus would become the primary focus of Bob's life. He spent many years as a pastor and was a realtor in the greater Lansing area for more than 45 years. He was a dedicated member of Capitol City Baptist Church in Holt, MI and championed the founding of Capitol City Baptist School. Bob was an articulate man and a keen student of the Bible. He had strong convictions and a big heart. Bob firmly believed that it was his duty to help anyone in need, regardless of the personal cost, and pursued this goal throughout his adult life.
In addition to all of these things, Bob had a terrific sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to laugh. He loved firecrackers and wandering on backroads, particularly those with "no trespassing" signs. His children and grandchildren were always greeted with a hearty, if not aggressive, tousling of their hair and a gentle kiss on the cheek.
Bob will be deeply missed by his family. He is survived by: his wife of 35 years, Jeanette Pugh (née Hein). Together they raised two children: Zachary Pugh (Joelle) and Sarah Sikkema (Tyler). He is also survived by his first wife, Evelyn Pugh (née Shaw), with whom he raised seven children, Deborah (Daniel) Albrecht, Diana (Eric) Reed, Belynda (Tom) Johnson, Robert (Yadira) Pugh, Dana (Brad) Pickworth, Deron (Paula) Pugh, and Lance (Sarah) Pugh. He is additionally survived by 19 grandchildren, Christina Palacios, Danielle (John) Albrecht, Caitlyn (Demetrius) Young, Conor Reed, Sidney Ballans, Gabrielle Albrecht, Chelsea (Ethan) Davis, Gilbert Palacios, Rylee (Robert) Dice, Victoria Pickworth, Mason Walker, Baylee Reed, Jessica Pugh, Aidan Albrecht, Randon Pugh, David Pugh, Paul Pugh, Adeline Pugh, Tesla Sikkema; and seven great-grandchildren, Alyse Wolverton, Akhaos Hardwick, Demetrius Young II, Harper Dice, Ezra Young, Milo Davis, and Ivy Dice. His siblings, Veronica Daylor, Laura Evans, J.C. Edwards, Lucy (Eddie) Western, Cyndi (Chris) Pugh, Michael (Kathy) Pugh; and siblings-in-law, Ed (Lois) Hein, Steven (Althea) Hein, Clifford (Sharon) Hein, and Jeff (Barb), also mourn his passing.
Bob was preceded in death by: his parents, Raymond Pugh, Florence Drummond, and Theresa Landry; and his siblings, Eddie Carpenter and Luckey Pugh.
In the interest of protecting others, the family has decided to wait until sometime next year to hold a memorial service. Memorials may be made to the church or charity of your choice; Bob strongly believed in supporting local churches and missions organizations.
