Robert James McCarthy was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi on August 9, 1963 to his late father, Robert McCarthy, Jr. and mother, Laverne McCarthy.

Robert graduated from J. W. Sexton High School on June 16, 1982. After graduating, he was employed at Kroger and later, Sir Pizza, until his health failed him.

Robert enjoyed basketball and football. His favorite team was the New England Patriots.

Robert departed this life on January 27, 2020. He was 56 years old.

Robert leave to cherish his memory: son, Josiah; mother, Laverne McCarthy; grandmother, Aline McCarthy; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and  other family and friends.
