Reggie was born on the Lord's day, Sunday, July 21, 1974 in Lansing, Michigan. He was a proud 1992 graduate Eastern High School, where he played on the basketball team.

In 1998, Reggie met the love of his life, DeChara, making a commitment of love for 22 years. Mr. Austin loved his children and was a stay-at-home dad for ten years. After which, Reggie became employed by Paramount Coffee and a skilled tradesman Machinist.

Leisure time for Reggie was spent watching sports of all kinds, coaching basketball for the Lansing Spartans, showing his culinary skills by cooking from scratch most meals, and traveling to various parts of the country. He was a person who met no strangers. A social gentleman who enjoyed life. "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23,24.

His lifelong devotion to his family was absolute, and demonstrated every day he lived. As a man of honor, he gave of himself not for recognition, but because of the love that filled his heart. He was a loving, supportive and caring father and son, an exceptional and interactive grandfather, and a brilliant sibling and friend.

On Thursday, August 20, 2020, Mr. Reggie Rernard Austin departed from this world to rejoice in the presence of God. He was predeceased by: his dad, Willie A. Austin, Sr.; siblings, Rickey L. Austin, Donald Q. Austin and Tamara L. Austin. Many precious memories will be cherished by: wife, DeChara; children, Deandra, Antoinette and Reggie, Jr.; mother, Ellawyne Austin-Birch; and stepfather, DeWayne Birch all of Lansing; six brothers, Willie A., Jr., Victor T., Jeffrey (Anitra), Derrick S. (Terri), Steve R. (Heather), Quinn T. (Sonya) Austin and Dewayne Birch, Jr.; three sisters, Deborah Ford of Virginia Beach, Va., Renee Birch and Nicole Morgan of Lansing; one grandson, Reggie III; mother and father-in-law, EJ and Desiree Reinert in Arizona; two aunts and one uncle; a wealth of nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends.
