On September 12, 2021, Raynard Edgar Jones, age 68, passed away surrounded by his loved ones at McLaren Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.

He was born on November 30, 1952 to Emily Jones and Richmond Jones Jr. Raynard came of age in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Cass Technical High School in 1970. He then attended Michigan State University where he would meet Renée Laster, his wife and life partner of 45 years.

Raynard went on to become one of the first Black Master Plumbers in Lansing and a contractor by trade. He worked for General Motors in Lansing, Michigan for over 30 years before retiring. He employed a number of other plumbers through his own businesses, JL&O and Jones Plumbing. He had a very generous heart and was loved by many. He was often called upon by friends, family, and others in need to help with repairs and often gave his time and resources without hesitation.

Raynard's passions were coaching and mentoring. He was a coach with Capital City Sports (Track) Club, Southside Panthers Football, Breakers Football and occasionally other youth sports programs. He served as a mentor and father figure to many that he coached, including his own children. He also had a natural command of mathematics and enjoyed tutoring young people in his spare time. He loved spending time with his grandchildren who lovingly knew him as "Grandpa." He also enjoyed listening to political commentary in his spare time.

Raynard is survived by: his wife, Renée; and his three children, Raynard, Kailyn and Shardé. He was a cherished grandfather to his three grandchildren, Ian, Saige, and Pierce. He was a loving brother to his surviving sister, Joyce Knox. He was a proud and supportive uncle to, Toni Jones, Sonja Jones, André Harrison, Tamiko Clinkscale and Tamela Clinkscale. He was a cherished lifelong friend to his college housemates, the "Brody Bunch," composed of himself, Ronald "Dab" Davenport, Dalrois "Dal" McBurrows, William "Whop" Waddell and Eric Flenard "OJ" Tate. He is preceded in death by: his father, Richmond Jones Jr.; mother, Emily Jones; brother, Richmond Jones III; sisters, Eileen Jones and Elaine Jones; and niece, Shavonne Knox. He also leaves behind countless beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, neighbors, and friends.
