Ravola (Butch) Donald Williams, Jr. was born on November 9, 1957 in Loxley, Alabama to Ethel Lee Williams and Ravola Donald Rowe. Butch was an independent businessman, working as a painter in and around the Lansing area for over thirty years. Butch had a great eye for art, which was fostered by an elective class in junior high school. His home has several sculptures which he was fond of, some fabricated by him. Butch also loved poetry, creating poems over the last thirty years, of which he was proud to share with his children. Butch learned to hunt as a young man, with a large extended family who welcomed him into their clan, becoming adept at hunting small game. Playing sports and games were always a part of Butch's recreation, especially basketball during his younger years. Part of his basketball legacy has been committed to film, which Butch was always eager to share with all. Butch was part of a BCA Pool League, his competitive spirit thrived in the pool league, with first place standings in state competitions over multiple years. Butch also enjoyed a lively spirited board or card game. Monopoly, Bid Whist and Mirror Magic, in later years, being his favorite. However, most would agree that fishing was paramount to all of his other leisure activities. His legendary tales of his fishing prowess can be attested by all who accompanied him, especially his children and nephews. Butch holds the Bass Master record for the biggest large mouthed bass caught during the K.O.A. Tournament, which was held at the Cottonwood Campground in Lansing. Butch enjoyed the times spent with his family, especially the newest members, granddaughters Sophia and Isabela. He was eager to teach them fishing, purchasing mini fishing rods for them to reel in "the monster". He also hosted bar-b-ques throughout the summer, cherishing the family gatherings spent with his children and grandchildren, always entertaining with his quick comedic wit. Butch was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Trenise (Eric). He leaves to cherish his memory his children; Brandi, Ravola (Liz) and Parios (Roy), his grandchildren, Sophia and Isabela, siblings, Brenda (Donald), Kay, Pia, Meredith (Kevin), Anita and Mark (Casandra), several aunts and uncles, as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews and a large community of friends. Mr. Williams will lie in repose, Sunday, June 21, 12-2pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 West St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933.
