Pinkie Marie Moore was born in Catherine, Alabama to James Lee and Ora B. Perkins on December 7, 1936. She was the oldest of 10 children. She relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 1955 and became a lifelong resident. She retired from the Lansing School District as a Social Worker and Family Helper. After retirement from the Lansing School District, she became the supervisor and Coordinator of the El-Hajj Malik El Shabazz Academy Food Services' Program. Pinkie was the family matriarch and always generous to a fault. She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, shopping until she dropped, and was a master at crafts. Every child and grandchild was given a handmade afghan that showed the true expression of her love. She was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church and played a key role in its senior ministry. As a superior soldier, she was married for 58 years to her loving husband, L.B. Moore who affectionately called her "Q". She loved her dogs and hosting family gatherings. She was famous for her "Three Pieces". Pop says "I will always love you". She was preceded in death by: her oldest daughter, Ellease Dean; parents; and siblings, Pauline Rodgers, Andrew Perkins, Curtis Moore and Victor Moore. Pinkie Marie Moore was welcomed into the loving arms of the LORD on February 17, 2015. Pinkie is survived by her husband, L.B. Moore; children, Lois (Leonard) Posey of Morristown, NJ, Vanessa Owens, Cliftine (Joe) Bunkley, Darnetta Moore, Ricky (Patricia) Moore, David (Brenda) Moore, and Sandra Kay (Rodney) Brackins, all of Lansing; 23 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; brothers, James (Elaine) Perkins of Philadelphia, PA. and Eric Chappell of Lansing; sisters, Paula Joseph of Norristown, PA, Denise Perkins and Rochelle Perkins, both of Muncie, IN; special friends, Dr. Ruby Helton, Johnnie Black, Ruby Perkins, Sarah Travis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mrs. Moore will lie in repose, Sunday, February 22, 12-7pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 West St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 23, 12pm at the Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 South Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, Lansing, MI 48933.
