Patricia Cain (Pat), the sister of Dr. Eugene and Delois Cain, and sister-in-law of Dr. Maxine Hankins Cain passed peacefully on December 26, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan. Patricia, a native of Birmingham, Alabama was a resident of Detroit, Michigan. She had spent the past five months in Lansing, Michigan wherein she was receiving medical treatment at the Sparrow Herbert-Herman Cancer Center. Patricia served as a Detroit Public Schools educator for over 40 years in the capacities of classroom teacher, reading coordinator, and assistant elementary school principal.

During her career as an educator, Patricia was known for her creativity, professionalism, and dedication to her students and parents. She received a bachelor's degree in biology from Stillman College and two masters degrees: one from Wayne State University (MAT), and the second masters degree from the University of Detroit in reading and learning disabilities. Patricia was also the recipient of an educational specialist degree from Wayne State University. She was a member and deacon at Trinity Community Presbyterian Church, Detroit, Michigan. Additionally, she was an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Mae Jean Cain of Birmingham, Alabama. She leaves to mourn her passing: a brother, Eugene; sister, Delois of Detroit, Michigan; and her devoted sister-in-law, Maxine Hankins Cain of Lansing, Michigan; four nephews, Dr. Juba Watts Cain, Asante Cain (Nichole), khari (Needlz) Cain (Manana) and Dr. Jabari Cain (Sylvia); three nieces, Amani, Makayla, Averie; and seven nephews, Bryson, Braylon, Brennon, Nasir, Ransom, Kingston, Ronin.

Following her wishes, Patricia will be cremated, and her ashes placed between her parents' grave sites at George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens in Birmingham, Alabama. A future memorial service, befitting the beautiful person she was, and the wonderful life she lived, will be held at a later date...family and friends will be notified once arrangements have been finalized. Riley Funeral Home of Lansing, Michigan is in charge of the cremation.

The Cain family wishes to thank Sharon Riley, the medical staff at Sparrow Hospital, the professionals at Careline Medical and Heartland Hospice Care. To her many friends and family members, we thank you for your continuous prayers, phone calls, cards, uplifting comments, flowers, fruit baskets, soothing body ointments, meals and other acts of kindness. Because of your deeds, we are more able to accept God's Will and treasure the many precious memories that we shared with our dear and precious sister, Patricia Cain, daughter of Paul and Mae Jean Cain. They are together once again.
