Oliver Dean Bryant was born to John and Varlee Bryant on June 20, 1930 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He received his early education in the Clark County School system. Later, he attended Lansing Community College, in Lansing, Michigan. Oliver migrated north to Lansing, Michigan and found employment at Fisher Body Division, General Motors. While working there, he entered the United States Air Force in 1951. He was discharged in 1955. He worked at General Motors, until his retirement. He was an active V.F.W. member, until his death. OD was born with a vivid imagination. His animated amazing stories and tall tales were always a source of laughter and entertainment. He played Boogie-Woogie on the piano, and blew the blues on his harmonica. He was a decorated veteran of the Korean War. He was a barber, world traveler, and an enterprising individual. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Osie Jack Bryant and Rev. Thomas C. Bryant; and sister, Elsie Bryant-Harris. Oliver passed away peacefully, in his sleep, on November 8, 2012. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: three sisters, Clementine Steward of Oakland, California, Mary A. Crosby of Lansing, Michigan, and Martha S. Dunlap of Hampton, Virginia; brother, Gary Bryant of Lansing, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Oliver will be missed by all.
