Obituary

Nolan Alfonso Lloyd was born in Mullens, South Carolina on May 1, 1935 to Simon and Annie Lloyd. He was the third born of five children. He spent his childhood in Mullens and loved telling stories of his childhood there. As a young man he met and married Sallie Nathaniel. She blessed him with two loving and devoted daughters. In 1968, they moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1968. He was employed in the auto industry. He met Ollie Strong, in 1985. They moved to Lansing, Michigan, in 1988. He was employed at Riverfront Properties. Ms. Strong stayed by his side, and was a faithful, caring, and much devoted companion, until his passing. She blessed him with five daughters, that was devoted to him. He lovingly considered them his own. Mr. Lloyd was fondly known as Pops to many that loved him. He had an outgoing spirit, never met a stranger and always had a kind word for everyone. He had a comforting hand shake along with well wishes and blessings for everyone. He was preceded in death by: two brothers, James Lloyd and Joseph Lloyd; sister-in-law, Gertie Lloyd, wife to James; and sister, Ms. Ometa Anderson. Nolan went home on October 6, 2012. Rejoicing his home going with fondest memories are: his daughter, Judy Lloyd Griffin; sons, Nolan Lloyd Jr., Robert Lloyd, Anthony Tony Mack, and Antonio (Sharon) Tyson; sister, Ann Twiggs; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren,great-great- grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He will be missed dearly. Friends may visit Mr. Lloyd Thursday, October 11, 2012 from 3-6pm at Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 at 1pm at New Mount Calvary Baptist Church; 3800 West Miller Road Lansing, MI 48911. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
