Obituary

Age 91, was born in Lansing, Michigan on March 14, 1922 to Hesper and Mable Jackson. She attended Lansing Public Schools and graduated from Central High School in 1940. She married John Davis Jr., and together they had one son that everyone called Jack. She retired from Maurices Apparel Store after over 40 years of service as a sales associate and buyer. Naomi devoted her life to loving and serving others. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church for over 75 years where she served as an usher and a member of the Circle #3 Missionary Society. After nearly a century of faithful service to her congregation, she relocated to Florida with her grandson Pastor Anthony Davis and his wife Charlayne, due to failing health. She served diligently in many civic and social organizations. She was a devoted member of the Queen Esther Chapter #8 OES for over 60 years and served as Worthy Matron. Naomi also served as Illustrious Commandress of Alasharf Court #106, Daughter of Isis and member of Faith Assembly #63, Order of the Golden Circle. Naomi was an exceptional bridge player and belonged to numerous bridge clubs. Naomi was preceded in death by her husband John Davis Jr.; her beloved son, Hon. Judge John W. Davis; her parents, Hesper and Mable Jackson; her sisters, Helena McCarroll, Delvina Simpson, Dorothy Jackson, and her brother Atty. Hesper Jackson, Jr. Naomi went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by family on May 29, 2013. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted grandchildren: Pastor Dr. Anthony Davis Sr. (Charlayne) of Titusville; Karla Davis-Mason (Steve) of Chicago; John W. Davis, Jr. (Michelle) of Atlanta; great grandchildren: Anthony Davis, Jr.; Steven Mason; Arielle Mason; Connor Mason; Kammarie Davis; Dali Davis, Joshi Davis; Mytori Davis; Tawni Davis; Heidi Davis; Ramarr Davis; Michelle Harris (Jason); Diamond Henderson and 6 great-great grandchildren, Brittany, Jayden, Xavier, Ramiyah, Elijah, and Amello; niece, Saundra (Frank) Moton; nephew, Wendel (Linda) Strickland; sister-in-laws, Betty Gilmore, Patricia Jackson-Walerko and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, fraternal sisters and brothers and friends. Mrs. Davis will lie in repose on Thursday, June 6, 9 am to 9 pm with the family hour being held from 6"7 pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 7, 11:00 am at Friendship Baptist Church, 2912 Pleasant Grove Rd. Lansing, MI.
