Melanee (Mel) Larcenia Gist, age 49, passed away on August 12, 2021 at her home in Rosebush, Michigan.

Melanee was born on June 9, 1972, in Southfield, Michigan to the union of George (Sonny) Gist and Christine Bursey at Providence Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, George Gist. Melanee grew up in Royal Oak Township and graduated from Redford High School in 1992.

"Mel" as she was so affectionally called, was adored by many and will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her no-nonsense attitude, and being one of the best braiders in Detroit.

Melanee Larcenia Gist will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. In passing this life, she leaves behind to cherish her precious memory: loving mother, Christine Bursey; sons, Dominique Gist, Jeremiah Gist; three sisters, Kathryn Gist, Yinka Carter (Maurice), and Maya Sanders; niece, Christine Gist; and a host of beloved cousins, great nieces and nephews, friends, and family.

There will be no services at this time for Ms. Gist.
