Martha Elizabeth "Beth" Allen Mallard passed away peacefully at her Lansing home on Saturday, May 23, 2015. Mrs. Mallard was 102, and the oldest daughter of eight children born to Charles F. and Martha M. Allen, formerly of Lansing. Her husband and life partner, the late Louis "Bo" Mallard, preceded her in death in 2004. Her only child, Martha Lynn, remains to cherish her memory and unconditional love. Most of Mrs. Mallard's adult life was spent in Gary, Indiana as a devoted wife and mother. She was a devout Christian who taught Sunday School, helped to develop the Women's Club in her church and served in numerous other Christian endeavors. Mrs. Mallard was a proud descendant of the Allen pioneer family who helped to settle Michigan's Calvin Township in Cassopolis County in the early 1800's. To honor her forebearers and their community building contributions, she organized the effort that resulted in Chain Lake Baptist Church and Cemetery being named a Michigan Historic Site in 1992. Mrs. Mallard leaves behind an extended family of loving relatives and friends whose lives she touched throughout her life's journey. Mrs. Mallard's celebration of life will be held Sunday, May 31, 2-5pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 West St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933.
