Obituary

Marcus John Kwesi Venyah was born on October 7, 1973, the youngest of four boys, to Lawrence Komla Venyah, and Centennial Lue Allie Venyah, in Lansing, Michigan, USA.

From early childhood, Marcus showed academic promise, studying mathematics at the local community college while in 8 th grade, graduating with Honors in the top percentage of his high school class, earning a place in the 1991 "Who's Who Among American High School Students", and eventually studying Endocrinology and Music at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, and Lansing Community College, in Lansing, Michigan.

Marcus also exhibited athletic prowess, engaging in athletic competition in baseball, basketball, and soccer. He particularly excelled in soccer: during middle school, traveling nation-wide with elite teams selected from the country's top-ranked players, and being promoted to the 11 th and 12 th grade High School State Championship team, while in 9 th grade.

Additionally, Marcus displayed artistic ability, singing in award-winning choirs from middle-school through collegiate years, being awarded for proficiency in piano, in recitals and competitions, and playing in contemporary music groups.

Despite the aforementioned achievements, academically, athletically, and artistically, Marcus's greatest attainment occurred, in April, 1991, at 17 and ½ years of age, when he chose to repent of his sins, commit his life to the Lord Jesus Christ, be filled with the Holy Ghost, and begin living as a born-again Christian, in obedience to the Word of God, the Bible.

Upon his conversion to Christ, Marcus began regularly reading and studying the Bible (once, reading the entire New Testament in one night), and daily praying. But the most notable transformation in his life occurred in the area of witnessing the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, to others, especially the unsaved. Regularly, Marcus encouraged people to repent, believe in Jesus the Son of God Who died and rose to save mankind from sin and Hell. He offered prayer for, and was compassionate toward, the suffering, often giving those in need food and finance, in addition to sharing with them the Good News of Christ.

As a faithful member of Soulwinners Fellowship Church, Lansing, Michigan, Marcus served the Lord by occasionally performing piano selections, assisting with maintenance in the church sanctuary, sharing Jesus with, following up on, and interceding for, the unsaved. He also played and sang contemporary Christian Gospel songs on piano at the Lansing Bless Fest, a festival which the Lord used to reach many with the Gospel, via music and the spoken Word of God.

Marcus continued in Biblical faith in Christ, loving his family, Christian brethren, co-workers, friends, fellowshipping with his church and Christian brethren, and compassionately, sharing the Gospel of Christ with non-Christians, until he went to dwell with Jesus, on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at 2:48 am. He is survived by: his mother, Centennial Lue Allie Venyah; his brothers, Norman, Titus, Michael, their wives and children; his many cousins and relatives both in the USA and Ghana, West Africa, the homeland of his father; his spiritual family in Soulwinners Fellowship Church, his brethren in Christ worldwide, friends, and co-workers.

Because of the man, son, brother, uncle, friend, that Marcus is, in Christ, his physical presence is missed. But, if we choose to follow his example of Biblically believing and obeying the Lord Jesus Christ until the end of our earthly lives, we will also go to eternally dwell with Jesus, and, in Christ's Presence, we will be reunited with Marcus, again (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)!
