Obituary

Malik M. Houston was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on July 22, 1997 to his mother, Carrie Simmons and father, Thomas Houston.

Growing up, Malik was always smiling and cracking jokes, as a matter of fact, he was considered the class clown. He loved wrestling and playing football. After graduating from Waverly high school in 2015, he decided to join the United States Air Force. Shortly before leaving, he married his high school sweetheart Amanda.

Malik accomplished so much in his career in the Air Force. He pumped 1.2 million gallons of fuel to 334 aircraft, won an award called "Pumper of the month" in May of 2018, and went on a trip to West Palm beach to support the presidential mission.

Malik's hard work and dedication will truly be missed. Malik will always be remembered for his sarcastic ways, his beautiful smile and the passion that he put into everything that he did.

Malik left this Earth unexpectedly on December 19th, 2018.

Surviving are: his wife, Amanda Houston; his mother, Carrie Simmons; father, Thomas Houston; brothers, Ollie Crawford, Tevin (Lana) Crawford, Thomas Houston and John Rumohr; sister, Desiree Hayes; his 7 nieces and nephews; and his grandmother, Joan Rumohr.

A1C Malik M. Houston will lie in repose Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4-6 pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St. Lansing, Michigan 48933. Service for A1C Malik M.
