Our beloved, Louise K. Rush, received her angel wings on Friday, November 27, 2020 at her home in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by both her children, Sheila Rush-Gaines and Walter E. Rush III. She was 92 years old.

Louise was born on October 15, 1928 to Bessie Jones and James Yates in Chicago, Illinois. The family relocated to Lansing during her early childhood. Louise was a graduate of J.W. Sexton High School. She became one of few women of color to work for OIds Motor Vehicle Company (Oldsmobile) during the late 1950s. She worked for Oldsmobile while raising her two children until she retired in 1986 after 30 years of service.

Louise was a dedicated member of Friendship Baptist Church in Lansing. She enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a passion for travelling and was an avid bingo player. Most of all, Louise loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Louise leaves to cherish her memory: two children, Sheila Rush-Gaines and Walter E. Rush III; 10 grandchildren, Tyrone (Rosalee) Rush, Richard Hogan, Neil (Terri) Rush, Morcedzs Rush, Ashan Terrell (Karla) Rush, LaRisha Rush, Walter E. Rush IV, LaChera (Haywood) Greenwood, Desmond Thompson, Chantell Thompson, and a host of great and great-great grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by: her father, James Yates; mother, Bessie Jones; and brother, Richard Yates.

A viewing will be held at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W St Joseph St, Lansing, MI, on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 3-6 p.m. with family viewing beginning at 2 p.m. Due to the current circumstances, no more than 10 people will be allowed to view at a time.
