Obituary

Lorena Simon was born to Mary & Louis Simon on March 17, 1948 in Iowa, Louisiana. She was the 6th of what would eventually number 11 siblings. The family moved to Texas while Lorena was quite young. She married Maurice Armstrong, Jr. on June 5, 1969 and graduated from Prairie View A&M University a few years later, having earned a Bachelor of Science in Education. On August 16, 1970 their union was blessed with the birth of their firstborn, Roberto Armstrong. On October 19, 1973 they had their second child, Teresa Marie Armstrong.

The young family moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1976. Lorena was employed by the Lansing School District and completed her Masters Degree in Arts through Michigan State University in 1985. Lorena was a Special Education teacher and eventually became a high school counselor. She retired from public education in June 2010 but never retired from sharing the most valuable education available: Bible truth about Jehovah God and his Kingdom under Christ's rule.

Lorena's deep appreciation for God's Word moved her, as a girl, to visit a variety of churches and to participate in various Bible Study groups. She studied briefly with Jehovah's Witnesses as a teenager in Texas and had sporadic contact with Witnesses in Arizona and in Lansing for a number of years. Her contact with Jehovah's Witnesses eventually led to a progressive Bible Study and Lorena dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized on October 2, 1992. Henceforth, Lorena redirected her life course. Throughout the following years, Lorena enthusiastically spoke about God's Kingdom blessings with her son, mother, siblings, coworkers and neighbors. During summer months she would increase her share in the door-to-door ministry and, after retiring, she enjoyed the privilege of serving as a Regular Pioneer from September 2016 to August 2017. She was pleased to attend Pioneer Service School in August 2017.

Late in November 2017, Lorena's health suddenly declined. Despite her new limitations, she continued to attend her Christian meetings when possible and to share Bible teachings with the hospice team that began assisting her in February 2018. Always devoted, her intense love for her family was extraordinarily evident even to her final breath on March 26, 2019.

Lorena is survived by her former husband, Maurice Armstrong, Jr.; her children Roberto Armstrong and Teresa (Charles) English; grandchildren Alyssa English-Milner and Catrice English; great grandchildren Maxwell Milner, Ava Milner, and Dorian Milner; her siblings Orelia Alexander, Loretha (Felton) Myers, Mary Simon, Louis (Reba) Simon, Agnes Simon, Isaac Simon, Erma Jean Simon-Sadberry, Diana Simon Loftis and James Simon; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
