Lillie Ruth (Robinson) Pruitt
was born August 4, 1944 in Jonesboro, Georgia to Sarah Jewel Goodman Robinson and ST Robinson Sr. Lillie was affectionately called Ruth by family and friends.
In 1952, Ruth moved to Lansing, Michigan and upon arrival she joined Union Missionary Baptist Church under then pastorate, Rev. Joel King. Ms. Robinson became active in several auxiliaries, such as Sunday school, junior usher board, junior choir and baptist training union. Ruth had a passion for gospel music and was a member of the UMBC Gospel choir for many years.
Ruth was a proud graduate of J.W. Sexton High School, and continued her education with Lansing Davenport School of Business. She retired from Michigan State University in the Purchasing Department.
Lillie married Larry Pruitt on November 17, 1973. They enjoyed traveling and spending quality time together.
Ruth was the "glue" that kept up the family tradition of holiday dinners, and cakes for birthdays. She was an awesome baker and loved to try new recipes.
Lillie Ruth was preceded in her homegoing by: husband, Larry; parents, Sarah Jewel Goodman Robinson and ST Robinson; brothers: James, Charlie, Sr., ST Jr.; and sister, Ophia. She leaves to cherish precious memories: sisters, Lucile Simpson, Velma Ferguson, and Thelma (Chris) Walker all of Lansing; sister-in-law, Mary Bufford; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ms. Lillie Ruth Pruitt will lie in repose Monday, August 29, 2016 from 12-7pm at Riley funeral Home, 426 West Saint Joseph Street, Lansing, Michigan. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 30, 2016 12:00pm at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 South Martin Luther King Jr, Blvd, Lansing, Michigan.
