Lillian M.
Boles
May 7, 1978 – February 14, 2020
Lillian Michelle Boles , was born on May 7, 1978, the second eldest to David Michael and Flora Boles in Lansing, Michigan. Named after both grandmothers - Lillie Mae Boles and Lillie Mae Brown, Lillian affectionately known as "Chelle", loved her grandparents dearly and exemplified many of their characteristics. She gave her life to the Lord at an early age and was baptized at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor Herman Green. She was a part of the youth choir and enjoyed singing, especially older songs. Lillian later transferred membership to Reachout Christian Center Church in Lansing, Michigan.
At age six, Lillian was challenged with a brain tumor, but her strength and faith in God brought her through several ups and downs. She never let it stop her and she would participate in church functions, bowling, and shopping. Lillian was educated through the Lansing School District and graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. She also participated for several years with the Transition Central Program.
Lillian always felt comfortable around older adults and learned how to do cross-stitching from Grandmama Brown. She made beautiful crosses and hearts and would share them with so many people. She also was known to cater to young people in the church and her family by giving them some fruit snacks, starburst, juicy fruit gum, or coloring papers—something to keep them busy in church. She was faithful and actively participated in the Women's Retreat at Gull Lake.
Lillian was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. She loved spending time with the family and enjoyed family reunions . Independent and bold, Lillian would often challenge her family members to stop smoking and always encourage them to take care of their health. She was a living example of strength and courage.
Lillian was preceded in death by: her grandparents, Emerson and Lillie Boles and Albert and Lillie Brown, Jr.; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Lillian leaves to cherish her memory: her loving parents, David Michael and Flora Boles; brothers, David Michael (Dione) Boles II of Grand Rapids, MI, Brian (Bethany) Boles of Millersville, MD, Jon Boles of Grand Rapids, Kristopher Fleming of Chicago, IL, and Tyron Mitts of Saginaw, Texas; two nieces, Madeline and Olivia Boles; two nephews, David Boles and Kairo Fleming; Godparents, Andrew and Louella Rivers; a special sister, Saundra Lankford; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, her core group of cousins born in 1977, 1978, and 1979, and the entire Reachout family.
We are so thankful for the care and assistance we received from Sparrow Mary Free Bed, University of Michigan Hospital and ABC Healthcare workers - Augustine Cooper, Erin Pebbleplace, and LaShawn Burns.
