Lillar Simpson was born February 7, 1940 to L. B. and Pearlie Bruner Peterson in Honoraville, Alabama. She attended the public schools in Honoraville. In 1958, she married Ira D. Simpson. To this union four children were born. Lillar moved to Lansing, Michigan and was employed at General Motors. Due to ill health, she retired, after working 23 years. Lillar loved working in her flower garden, helping people, cooking, decorate, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved to read her Bible and sing gospel songs. Lillar was a member of Reverend Pruitts Church for many years and later moved her membership to Bethlehem Temple Church. There, she was baptized, in Jesus name, and received the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Bishop Dr. Alfred Singleton, Sr. Before Lillars illness, she was an avid church-goer. She also attended Michigan conventions and worked with the Missionary Department. Lillar was preceded in death by: her husband, Ira D. Simpson; sisters Pearline Frost, Alleon Goldsmith, and Bama Franklin; brothers, Earnest Peterson, L. B. Anderson, Bob Peterson, Jim Houston Peterson, Rayfield Anderson, and Archie Peterson. Lillar went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. She leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Annie E. Simpson and Jennie V. ( J. C.) Croffett; sons, Jerry (Constance) Simpson and Charles (Colleen) Simpson; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Addie (Elze) Harris and Ida Hall, brother, John Peterson; three sisters-in-law, Daisy Peterson, Vera Anderson of Benton Harbor, Michigan, and Rosie Lee Peterson; special niece, Sonya Nay Nay Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
