Lawrence Henry Hinton, age 86, of Lansing, Michigan, entered eternal rest on April 17, 2026. Born on June 14, 1939, to the late Grace and William Demps, Lawrence lived a life marked by faith, family, and unwavering strength.
He was educated in the Lansing School District and proudly graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. Lawrence went on to build a long and dedicated career with General Motors, where he later retired. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he answered a higher calling and served faithfully as a Reverend, touching countless lives through ministry, compassion, and a steadfast devotion to God.
Lawrence was united in marriage to the late Catherine Hinton, his beloved wife of 47 years. Together, they shared a devoted partnership, raised a beautiful family, and created a legacy grounded in love, faith, and commitment.
A man who cherished life’s simple joys, Lawrence loved spending time with his family above all else. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, card games, and singing, often bringing laughter and music to every gathering. Known for his competitive spirit, he took great pride in beating all his nephews in basketball, a story he shared with humor and delight. His presence brought warmth, joy, and a sense of unity wherever he went.
Lawrence was preceded in death by: his beloved wife, Catherine Hinton; his parents, Grace and William Demps; his daughter, Kimberly A. Hinton; and his siblings, John Hinton, Christine HintonLewis, James Hinton, and Cassie HintonReid.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children, Lawrence Jr., Marty, Derrick, Catherine, and Paris; his grandchildren, Derrick II, Jacob, Rafael, Kimberly, Derrick III, and Dominic; three greatgrandchildren; his loving sister, Evelyn HintonUnion; his devoted loving partner, Chelia Lampkins; and his special friends, Greg Eaton and Carl Rennell. He is also remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and friends who were blessed to know him.
