LaVern Angus "Punkin" Taylor
went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 12, 2022 at the age of 70.
LaVern A. Taylor was born on June 20, 1952 to Napoleon and Jessie Mae Taylor in Lansing, Michigan. He was the fourth child in a family of seven siblings (four boys and three girls) and had a daughter, Charmaine Shellman.
He served in the United States Army and was a member of All Nations Christian Church. LaVern was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. He was a father to many. He was there for anybody and helped anyone in need. He was a problem solver and he loved everybody. He expressed his love through cooking for others. Through the test of trial of life, he past some and failed some, but out of them all he found Jesus and made him Lord and Savior of his life.
He is survived by: his siblings, brother, Napoleon (Deborah) Taylor of Lansing, MI; two sisters, Catherine Taylor and Josephine Taylor both of Lansing, MI. He leaves to cherish his memory: a daughter, Charmaine Shellman of Lansing, MI; two granddaughters, Ciara and Montasia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Our beloved LaVern A. Taylor is preceded in death by: his parents; grandmother, Sarah Jones; two brothers, Curtis and Thomas Taylor; and sister, Nancy Taylor.
LaVern leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love for others and was viewed as a father figure to many family members and extended family members. He was a steadfast servant that made a difference in a lot of lives in the community. LaVern served faithfully, making himself available to any task inside and outside the church walls. He was a constant example of what a Christian man is to be in his community. He was truly "God sent" and he will surely be missed. At this time the Taylor family would like to thank all of the people that were impacted by his love and kindness and for celebrating the life of our love one.
