Mr. Dettmer passed away on February 3, 2021 at the age of 79.

The son of the late Edward and Esther (Weichec) Dettmer, he was born in 1941 in Bay City, MI. After graduating high school in 1959, he joined the Navy and served for four years. He then attended Ferris State University and graduated with a degree in Commercial Art. He retired as owner of Graphicom, a graphic design firm in East Lansing in 2003. After retirement he spent his time traveling, camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors with his wife, Sally.

Predeceased are: his father and mother, Edward and Esther Dettmer; brother, Thomas Dettmer.

Mr. Dettmer is survived by: his wife, Sally; step-sons, Daniel Smith and Edward Smith; step-grandsons, Andrew Smith and Alex Smith; sister, Rosanne Rechsteiner; and nieces, LoriAnne (Mark) Van Dyke, Cindy (Rodney) Callahan; and nephew, Thomas (Amy) Rechsteiner; eight great nieces and nephews; and three great-great nieces and nephew.

Cremation has taken place per Ken's wishes. A memorial mass will be held on February 10, 2021, 10 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, MI. Father Matthew officiating. Due to COVID-19, masks and social distancing will be required. The family was served by Riley Funeral Home, Lansing, MI. Condolences can be left at their website.
