K. C. Black, K, was born May 14, 1930 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to Sarah and William Black. In search of a better life, he moved to Lansing, Michigan. He worked for General Motors, Fisher Body Division, until he retired. K. C. loved the Lord and his church. He served on the Deacon Board of New Hope Church Of God In Christ, for over 50 years. He devoted his life working in the church and helping people. He was preceded in death by: his son, Steven C. Black; parents, Sarah and William Black; brothers, James, Willie, J.C., Luticia, and Floyd Black; and sister, Alberta Porter. Deacon Black went home to be with the Lord on April 12, 2012. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 63 years, Norma; son, Timothy R. Black, Sr.; three grandchildren, Timothy Black, Jr., Marquis Austin, and Teonta Kinnebrew; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Matthew (Christine), Jay (Bertha), and Robert (Mary) Black, all of Lansing; sisters, Annie Bell (Willie) Chambell of Dewitt, Michigan and Lucille (Rev. Andrew) Chambliss of Union Springs, Alabama; and a host of other relatives and friends. Friends may visit Deacon Black Tuesday, April 17, 9 am - 9 pm, at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 18, 11 am, at New Hope COGIC, 6025 S. Waverly Rd. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral.
