Karina Lynn Vela of Grand Ledge passed away on January 1 st , 2022, after living a fulfilling 24 years of life. Born on July 1 st , 1997, in Lansing, MI; she was diagnosed with mitochondrial myopathy at birth and later discovered to have Prader-Willi Syndrome. She was a fighter, overcoming many obstacles, while still always having a smile on her face. Karina loved her collection of stuffed animals, holidays, birthdays, listening to music, dancing, watching movies, putting together puzzles, playing Barbies with her nieces and most of all sharing every moment with her family.

Karina had the prettiest eyes, the most beautiful smile, and cutest laugh. She gave the best hugs. She was incredibly funny, stubborn, and determined. Karina is our shining star and she will be forever in our hearts.

She will be lovingly remembered by: her parents, Frank and Pam Vela; sisters, Alicia Liggons (Ty Liggons) and Chelsea Vela; nieces, Geneva "Sophia" and Cecelia; multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and her pets. She was preceded in death by; her grandparents; many aunts and uncles.
