Obituary

Karen Deborah Campbell Jackson was born May 1, 1954 in Detroit, Michigan to Hortense and Leroy Big Campbell, Sr. She attended Detroit Public Schools, was a 1972 graduate of Mackenzie High School, and earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Shaw Business College. She went on to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield and later worked at General Motors. She retired in December 2003, after 31 years of dedicated service. She met the love of her life, Martin Jackson, while working at GM. They were devoted to each for 15 years before they were married on July 30, 1994. This union was blessed with their daughter, Karrina Martina Jackson, November 17, 1985. Karen loved shopping, traveling, taking care of her family, and spending time with her dog, Sparkle. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by: her mother, Hortense Campbell; brother, Leroy Campbell, Jr; sister-in-law, Corrine Judy Morgan; brother-in-law, Arthur Jackson, Jr.; and nephew, Vincent Morgan. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, aunt, sister-in-law, and friend, Karen Deborah Jackson, went home to be with Father God and her mother and brother March 15, 2013. She leaves to forever cherish her memory: her life partner and loving husband of 18 years, Martin Jackson; daughter, Karrina Martina Jackson; two sons, Martin J. L. (Charlette) Jackson of Atlanta, Georgia and Martez (Ebony) Connor of Detroit, Michigan; grandchildren, Khloe Allen, Logan Jackson, Savannah Jackson, Jasmine Miller-Jackson, and MaKala Conner; father, Leroy Big Campbell, Sr.; mother-in-law, Dora Lee Jackson; step-daughter, DeShenna Logan; four sisters-in-law, Delores Washington of Lansing, Michigan, Rose Evans of Detroit, Michigan, Theresa LaCour of Houston, Texas, and Mary (James) Riley of Lansing, Michigan; two very special nephews, Alonzo and Marlon Campbell; four very special nieces, Sherry and Ebony Campbell, Michelle Morgan and Natalie LaCour; nieces and nephews, Tina Morgan, Chaira Wright, and Jackson and Jonathan Riley; very special great-niece, Arielle D. Campbell; two special bonus daughters, Khadijah Granger and Shantel Arnold; special bonus son, Jason Allen; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends. Public Visitation: Friday, March 22, 12-9 pm with 7:30- 9 pm family hour at James H. Cole Homes of Funeral , Inc. 2624 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit,MI. Funeral Service: Saturday, March 23, 10:30 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church,1000 Eliot Street, Detroit, MI. Family hour 30 minutes prior to service.
