May 7, 1956 – August 20, 2021
Karen Lillian Freeman, 65, succumbed and met her Heavenly Father, August 20, 2021, in Lansing, Michigan with her beloved brother by her side. She brought a bit of joy to the world on July 7, 1956, and eight pounds of joy to the loving union of King Solomon Freeman and Evelyn Katherine Caldwell Freeman, who resided in Cleveland, Ohio.
Karen spent many happy years in Cleveland. She attended church with her brothers at New Sardis Primitive Baptist Church, where she accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her savior. Karen graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1974 and entered college at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio, where she pursued her love of music. Karen obtained her Associates Degree at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, Ohio.
In knowing Karen, you knew she was caring and had a huge loving heart. She was a beloved member of her community. She loved all kinds of music and enjoyed sharing her music and talents with family and friends. Karen's zest for life shone through her kind and spontaneous outlook and personality. She and her zest for life, never met any strangers. Consistent with her personality, Karen has worked in the sales and hospitality industry for much of her career.
Karen belonged to several clubs and worked with various charitable groups throughout the greater Cleveland area. Her special interest included her professionally produced song and writing musical lyrics. Karen recently penned a beautiful song entitled "Only Heaven Knows." Karen's real love was spending time with family and friends.
Karen Freeman was preceded in death by: her mother, Evelyn C.; father, King S.; brother, Harrison J. Freeman.
Karen is survived by: her beloved brother, Myron (Dee) Freeman of East Lansing, Michigan; first cousins, Charlie (Eddie) Scott, Phillip Morris, Nyoka (Percy) Summerville all of Cleveland, Ohio, and Jean Morris-Lee of Lake Lure, North Carolina; niece, Janeece (Dwayne) Freeman-Clark and family of South Orange, New Jersey; nephew, Myron (Tamicka) Freeman, Jr. and family of Cleveland, Ohio; a host of additional family and friends in Lansing, Michigan, Cleveland, Ohio, and elsewhere.
In lieu of flowers, any donations may be sent to Medilodge of East Lansing, Michigan. Karen's home which she greatly appreciated over the later years of her life.
