Juanita "Panky" Bledsoe was born September 1, 1949 to Leona Smith and Clarence Bledsoe in Tutwiler, Mississippi. She was the first born of ten siblings, Geneva, Carrie, Magnolia, Mildred, Sharon, Maggie, Ola, James, and Judy.
Juanita moved to Lansing in the 1960's with her mother and stepfather. She graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. Memories of Juanita from her children, include her love and devotion for Christ, her children and her grandchildren.
Juanita was very active in her church, Galilee Baptist. Juanita loved to cook and help others. The legacy of Juanita Bledsoe is that of a selfless women who would help anyone that needed it without question. There are so many things about Juanita that those who knew her will remember from her love of Christ, children, grandchildren and church.
She was preceded in death by: her mother, Leona McCullem; stepfather, Leon McCullem; sisters, Carrie Smith and Magnolia McCullem; and niece, Isha M. Smith.
Our beloved Juanita Bledsoe went home to be with our Lord December 10, 2015. Juanita fought the good fight. She will be forever cherished and will be truly missed by: her devoted sons, Kenneth Charles Bledsoe and Marvin Bledsoe; daughter, Melba Bledsoe; grandchildren, Aaron, Jordan and Marvin Jr.; siblings, Geneva, Mildred, Sharon, Maggie, Ola, James, and Judy; and a host of other relatives and cherished friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 16, 2015 and Thursday, December 17, 2015, 12:00pm - 7:00pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933. Family Hour will be held Friday, December 18, 2015, 10:00am; Funeral services will be held Friday, December 18, 2015, at 11:00am at Galilee Baptist Church, 2511 Reo Road, Lansing, MI 48911.
